Does My Website Need a Facelift?

It is not enough to just have a website—it has to be good and it has to be current.

So, how do you know?

• If you built your site 2 years ago—you need an update. Trust me.

• It’s not memorable. It looks like everyone else’s. It’s boring.

• It’s not you and no longer promotes your brand.

• It’s not attracting the right clientele.

• The theme is “worn”, the pictures are ordinary and it is slow to load.

• The fonts are old. New fonts enhance the design and deliver impact.

* It’s using a lot of stock photos. Please, no photos of  “handshakes”. Be real.

• It’s small. Size matters. Stretch it out—be big, daring. Get noticed.

• No Whitespace. You need it to accent everything else. It’s “Zen”.

• Colors  are out of style. Color is an important element of design. Be current.

• Too many words. No one reads paragraphs anymore. Be succinct.

• It’s not mobile-friendly

• It uses flash—search engines can’t read it, so it is terrible for SEO

• Older sites have older technology—the threat of security breach is higher

• Do you have a blog? Has your content changed. You need both for SEO

• You are embarrassed to give out the web address.

A lot has happened in the last year—new apps, plugins, and intergrations. Design has changed--colors, fonts and formats. The rolling scroll format was in for a couple of years and is gone this year. Websites are more about establishing a relationship rather than the impersonal "corporate" look.

Your website is your #1 marketing tool. It exists to promote your work, help customers get to know you and make people excited about what you do. It is a reflection of you and if it is boring—they will click off and go somewhere else.
